The Meditations of Reason

by

in

 The singer sings

The dancer dances

The Lord prepares the heart of men

The past is finished

In its running

But it is where the memories live

I found that hope

Was more than substance

I found it was

The strength to give

Why do we search

For answers we know

Why do we settle

For a little less growth

More than we trust

It has all been laid out

The end from the beginning

That God has made clear

We head towards our triumph

Or we head towards our shame

Now is the time to stop playing games

If we withhold

From us it’s withheld

If we dish out

It will surely dish back

Why do we struggle for a meager existence

If life is so over after we exit?

But one thing is real whether you agree with me or not

Why should we waste it,

If it’s just a temporary lot?

We can accept our blessings or curse our frame

But won’t you at least call on Christ’s name?

What if He answers, what if He doesn’t

But to receive a response

You must be wide open

Don’t rush in with greed

Seeking to manipulate

Just call on the Lord

And let Him reciprocate

Maybe you’re hurt

You’ve tried once before

But perhaps you were led

To the wrong door

He isn’t your enemy

Your life isn’t futile

Why would He make you

To be so unique?

We all were given promise

To become something neat

A vessel of honor

A vessel of glory

But how can He mold us

If we slap His hand away?

He is the potter-

As our Creator

Should He not be interested?

Would He design us for destruction

Just to mock us?

Would He seek to slay us just for pleasure?

There are trials- things that beset us

But because of experience

We can taste victory

I had to face pain

But I got to taste healing

I had to lose a battle

But I learned how to come back

I lied and deceived

But found the importance of truth

I discouraged my brother

But found embrace in his compassion

Without darkness

There would have never been light

But because we have hope

We endure through the night

Maybe it would have been easier

To have never been afflicted

But because I was

I tasted God’s redemption
