Mercy that Set You Free

Tear ’em down
Tear ’em down
Don’t show mercy to your brother
Be a vengeful heart to their cause
And tell the world all their flaws
But when Jesus says hate is murder
And your cruelty has no life
Remember that you are judged
By the standard you know isn’t right
Why- says you, why should I show goodness
To a worthless pathetic soul
But one thing you forget-
you aren’t He who’s in control
You may mock His word and His handy-work
And spout your poisonous noise
But when you are dying in your pride
Know that was your choice

Now love will share the deepest truth
That grace seeks to give purpose
Almighty God has approved
The ones who spread His mercy
Don’t you worry, don’t you cry
When the vicious try to bite you
The One who sets the captives free
Is standing right beside you

What will you sow
on this day?
Compassion, love, and mercy:
Or will you choose to forsake
the very gifts that God imbued thee?
Love covers sins
and mercy reconciles
your kindness shines a light
but when you tear your brother down
you’re just not very nice

Learn a lesson from the Samaritan:
love isn’t about division
It reaches out without a motive
that declares your good “intention”
You love your brothers where they’re at
you extend your soul in peace
Then you remember there was a time
It was “Mercy” that set you free
