Don’t Quench the Holy Spirit

Do not quench the Holy Spirit. To him who knows to do good and does not do it- to him it is sin. Whatever is not from faith is sin. One of the number one quenchers of the Holy Spirit is idolatry. Idolatry is the act of devoting your life or your time to an object or being other than the Lord. This quenches God’s Spirit because it hinders His life from flowing into you and through you. Jesus spoke that you cannot serve God and mammon. Mammon is riches. No one can serve two masters. Either he will love the one and hate the other; or he will honor one and despise the other. Many in the church are bogged down with the cares of this life, not casting all their care on the Lord. Compromise has crippled the church and robbed it of the power of the demonstration of God’s Spirit. We have proclaimed the name of Jesus through hypocrisy- speaking His name with our lips but denying Him through our lifestyles. When we lay down our idols, we will begin to see the glory of the Lord return to our lives. What do you want? Do you want to remain hindered and bound to idolatry and compromise? Or do you want to walk in the Spirit and knowledge of the One who bought you with His life? Let us choose this day whom we will serve. Amen.
